Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National)

Provides free interpreting services to non-English speaking Australian citizens and permanent residents communicating with approved groups and individuals on behalf of the Department of Social Services including state and Australian government departments, local councils, medical and health practitioners, pharmacies, utility companies, telecommunication companies, emergency services, legal services, settlement and community service providers.

How do I use it?

You can access immediate telephone interpreting services, ask an organisation to book a telephone or in-person interpreting service for you in advance for a scheduled appointment or interview. The majority of TIS National services are free to non-English speakers.
